The CFL playoff bracket in the East is set with the Toronto Argonauts locking up second place in the division with a commanding 38-20 victory over the Ottawa Redblacks.

The Argos scored 28 points in the first half in front of a season-high 20,487 in attendance Saturday afternoon. Toronto secured a third straight win and four in their last five games.

Chad Kelly had his best game of the season, going 21-of-26 for 331 yards and three touchdowns while adding another touchdown on the ground. Makai Polk led the way with 104 yards on three receptions, including a 47-yard touchdown in the first half.

With a lot at stake for both teams in this game, the Argos showed why securing home field was crucial for them improving to 7-2 at BMO Field this season.

The Redblacks wouldn't go away quietly, though, recovering two onside kicks late in the game to cut into Toronto's lead. The first kick bounced over Dejon Brissett, while the second one bounced out of his hand.

On Ottawa's third onside kick attempt, Dan Adeboboye recovered it with some sarcastic cheers from the crowd. It's not something the coaching staff wants to see but you'd rather have this happen in the regular season than in a playoff game.

"Mickey Donovan does a great job trying to replicate things as much as possible in practice. We talked about (offside kicks) in the meeting. You watch It on film the way they kick onside kicks. The way they kicked onside today kicks is a little different than what they usually do. Usually, they kick more sky kicks to the sidelines, but today, they just kick dribbles. The coaches put us in the position to win, and we just got to execute it."

Dru Brown finished the game with 400 yards, with most of it coming in the fourth quarter and certainly allowing 25 points in a single quarter is not something any team wants to do.

"They don't give up, they're no pushover," linebacker Wynton McManis said about what Ottawa showed with their push at the end of the game. "They have a lot of fight in them.

"The way this team is built, we know that's not us. We know we're a lot better than that … this will never happen again. It won't."
