It was a typical night of football for the Toronto Argonauts who improved to 8-0 at BMO Field this season with a 35-12 victory over the Edmonton Elks.

Wynton McManis’ pick-six in the third quarter was one of the many deciding plays on defence in the game. It was also McManis’ second interception touchdown of the season.

Chad Kelly had a quieter night in his return to action going 11-of-16 for 165 yards before getting replaced midway through the fourth quarter by Cameron Dukes with the Argos building up a big lead. Damonte Coxie led all receivers with four catches for 83 yards and AJ Ouellette recorded 14 carries for 65 yards.

It was a big night for the organization to culminate a week of celebration for the 150th anniversary of the franchise. Among those in attendance were former players like Damon Allen, Ricky Ray, Terry Greer, Raghib ‘Rocket’ Ismail, Chad Owens, Condredge Holloway and many more.

The announced attendance for the game was 14,246 which has been par for the course this season. An improvement in past years but you have liked to see a few more on a night where the team was celebrating a milestone.

There was some magic from Canadian quarterback Tre Ford who avoided tackles and threw across his body finding Gavin Cobb alone in the endzone for the touchdown.

That was really all the Elks offence was able to do despite holding a significant advantage in the time of possession in the game.

Toronto now has three games remaining in their regular schedule including one final home game on Oct. 14 against the Ottawa Redblacks before finishing their final two games on the road in Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan.
